One of the first connotations with Poland for many people is vodka. And when they are coming to Poland they usually try it. But do they know what they actually drink? What is the history of vodka? Does it have Polish or Russian origin? How is it made? And what are the other famous Polish liquors?
Let’s answer these and more questions during the Polish Alcohol Tasting Tour!
On this tour we will try not only a shot of Polish vodka served along with some delicious traditional snacks (such as pork lard, pickled cucumber and herring). Poland has a way more to offer! There is an alcoholic beverage that is even older than vodka and for sure we will try it. A story behind Polish cider is also suprising and we will visit a local bar that offers amazing craft cider. The other famous drink which is usually homemade is ‘nalewka’ (tincture).
The meeting point is Adam Mickiewicz statue in the heart of Main Market Square.
We will visit 3 local emblematic bars in the Old Town area, all of them within walking distance. There will be 6 samples of different Polish alcoholic beverages for degustation. Also traditional snacks will be provided.
Please note, that this tour is definitely not a pub crawl - it's a regular and civilized tasting tour. You will not only try some samples but also learn a lot about the history of Polish alcohol, the way it is produced and understand why it plays such an important role in Polish culture and cuisine.
